Bø in Telemark
Bo is a pleasant village situated in the heart of Telemark Telemark with strong traditions and a vibrant cultural life. Bo was voted the number 1 culture community in Norway 2005 and was No. 2 in 2010 (430 municipalities in Norway). The village has approx. 5000 residents, 2000 students and about 200,000 tourists each year. Bo has a good range of shopping opportunities and restaurants. With Beverøya as a base for exciting day trips, you have the opportunity to see all the places and attractions in Telemark within a radius of 1.5 hour drive. Beverøya is also 1.5 hours from Sandefjord Airport Torp, Colorline Superspeed from Denmark and Fjord Line from Denmark (coming 2012)
Telemark is called the cradle of skiing. The phrase comes from Morgedal and skiing history of Sondre Norheim. In Morgedal is therefore a ski museum called the Norwegian Ski Adventure. Telemark has many ski resorts and 8 of these have now started a collaboration through Telemark Super Ski.

Lifjell Skisenter, Vierli Skisenter, Vrådal Skisenter, Rauland Skisenter, Gautefall Skisenter, Haukelifjell Skisenter, Gaustablikk Skisenter og Raulandsfjell Alpinsenter. All of these ski resorts within 1.5 hours drive from Beverøya. The closest ski resort to Beverøya is Lifjell Ski Centre located 15 minutes drive from the square.
The three biggest summer attractions in Telemark are Bø Summerland, Telemark Canal and Gaustatoppen.
Bø Sommarland is Scandinavia's largest park for water activities. The park is located 5 minutes drive from Beverøya.
The Telemark Canal
The Telemark Canal is the old transport route from the moutains of Telemark to the coast. It was completed in the late 1800's and was long an important transport route for timber, people and goods. The channel is now open as a tourist attraction. You can either travel by boat, one of liners or rent your own canoe / kayak or bike. The Telemark Canal is a 15 minute drive from Beverøya.
Gaustatoppen is a majestic moutain in Telemark, and is arguably one of the most beautiful mountains in Norway! It is approx. 1 600 meters from the valley up to the top, and with its 1883 m it has a fantastic view. Annual 30 000 people climb to the top. In clear weather you can see east to the border of Sweden and south to the coast. The view shows the 1 / 6 of Norway. The parking at Gaustadtoppen is an hour from Beverøya.
